Napolitano was out of Bounds

No one has stood to defend ex-military personnel against a hurtful statement by Janet Napolitano, Director, Homeland Security. I feel compelled to do so! There has been no challenge or apology for her statement, either from the President, Secretary of Defense, or anyone at any level.

She said ex-military personnel should be considered possible terrorists, the information of which was disseminated to all levels of law enforcement, implying they should observe the ex-military for any conditions that could lead to such acts. I think we were closely watched and observed long enough, even psychiatric evaluations. Her statement will lead to profiling.

She helped investigate the Oklahoma City disaster, caused by an ex-marine, who has been executed. Maybe she saw a connection leading her to suspect a large segment of our society, based upon a statistically insignificant sample. In my thirty years service to my country, our surveys consistently showed a very low crime rate, compared to the general public. Questioning their loyalty and patriotism, is inexcusable. The left wing, most of our media and a great many of our colleges and universities may have twisted young minds and instilled such thoughts along with being against military actions since WWII. Consequently, some protesters spat on some of our personnel returning from Vietnam. Some of our young openly state that they do not like military people.

For weeks, I had to go to work, in the Pentagon, carrying a baseball bat in one hand and a briefcase in the other. Unlike others, they did not take the wheels off of my car and roll them into the Potomac, pull out my ignition wires, nor burn my car. They formed two rings around the Pentagon and poured blood on the steps, but my bat suggested that they step aside. There was a bomb blast three doors from my office where I was working alone. The Weathermen and the Black Panthers were involved as well as others that could surprise you.

I served with those from all services in different parts of the world, in and out of combat, including several headquarters and in the Pentagon. These fine men served with honor, total dedication, love of country and unshakable patriotism. I worked with them for exceedingly long hours day after day without complaint. They were willing to die for you, and I witnessed some who did. For those who do not see the need to defend our freedoms and way of life, let them look inward, or maybe I can help!

Obviously, we had to be aware of terrorist techniques, and had the skills to take appropriate action. Our government should recognize citizen rights under the Constitution and keep the country secure and financially viable and they will not have to worry about insurrection. I think Thomas Paine said that if we fear the government, that is totalitarianism. If they fear the power of our votes, that is freedom,

Janet Napolitano was out of bounds!
