Christianity in Retreat

I am tired of seeing the retreat of Christianity. It is sound Christian doctrine that has given us the great freedom and prosperity we enjoy. The United States was founded on sound Christian principles. The foundational principle is that man has a sin nature, and that law and government should be structured to harness man's selfish nature for the good of society. The Ten Commandments are the foundation of a free nation. They limit and direct man's behavior in a positive direction for the benefit of all. The proper role of government is to reward good behavior and punish bad behavior. Our government punishes hard work and productivity, and rewards laziness. The foundation stones of a productive society are the commandments "thou shall not bear false witness" and "thou shall not steal".  When I was criticizing President Obama's redistribution philosophy, a liberal friend once ask me, "Charlie, what would Jesus say"? I told her I knew exactly what Jesus would say. He would say "thou shall not steal"! If government punishes hard work, and rewards laziness, we will all have less. The Democrat philosophy is that we should cut the pie in equal tiny pieces for all to share. The Republican philosophy is that we should bake more pies.
There is a strange alliance between the liberal left and the Muslim religion. It may be that since both are the enemies of Christianity, that they both believe that, my enemy's enemy is my friend. However there are several similarities between the two. Both are antichrist in that they both deny that Jesus is God in the flesh of man, and the savior of mankind. They both also hold that their cause should take over the entire world through violent, bloody, revolution. Both want to end freedom of speech so that their doctrine cannot be criticized. Neither can survive in a free marketplace of ideas. They both lack an understanding of the true nature of God. That is, that God wants us to freely choose to love, warship, and serve him because we understand that he loved us while we were in the unlovable state of complete rebellion to him. God does not want to force himself on anyone. Love for him must be a free choice. Both Communism and the Muslim religion want to deny man that choice.

Nullification as it relates to gun control

The right of states to refuse to enforce unconstitutional federal acts is known as nullification.

Nullification is a concept of constitutional law recognizing the right of each state to nullify, or invalidate, any federal measure that exceeds the few and defined powers allowed the federal government as enumerated in the Constitution.  Nullification exists as a right of the states because the sovereign states formed the union, and as creators of the compact, they hold ultimate authority as to the limits of the power of the central government to enact laws that are applicable to the states and the citizens thereof.

Kansas has recently passed a law, enacting the idea of nullification, to stand against the power of the federal government to confiscate firearms.  It would seem that the people of Kansas have a different interpretation of the U.S. constitution than the attorney General of the United States.  Eric Holder has written a letter to Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, dated April 26th, 2013 stating it has the right to send federal agents to Kansas to confiscate firearms if it feels like it needs to do so.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

On another note, Arkansas passed a law to become the 5th state with a Constitutional Carry law.  Act 746, which was sponsored by Representative Denny Altes of Fort Smith, passed the state government with only one “nay” vote in the legislature and it received Governor Mike Beebe’s signature on April 4th.   Gun owners in most states have to carry around a permit that proves that they can legally carry firearms. In Constitutional carry states, the burden of proof falls on state prosecutors to prove that citizens are carrying a gun with the intent of committing a crime.  The Law is to take effect in July 2013.

And Now for the Good News...

As pointed out by ZeroHedge.com yesterday, the U.S. labor market is in a full-blown depression if you look at the real numbers.
  • The share of long-unemployment is at its highest level since the Great Depression (42%).
  • Fully 54% of college degree graduates under the age of 25 are either unemployed or underemployed. 25 million Americans are on food stamps -one in seven residents.
  • 47% of Americans are on some form of government assistance.
  • The employment-to-population ratio for 25-54 year olds is now 75.7%, lower than it was when the recession supposedly ended in June 2009.
  • The number of people not in the labor force has swelled 8 million since the recession ended. The ranks of the unemployed who have been looking fruitlessly for work for at least 27 weeks jumped 310k in May, the sharpest increase since May 2011.
  • The unemployment rate for males aged 16-19 is 27% and for males between 20 and 24 it is 13%.
Draw your own conclusions from a social (in) stability standpoint. One in seven Americans is either unemployed or underemployed.   A mere 16% of the 2009-2011 graduating class has found full-time work, while 22% are working part-time. Even those hired from 2006-08, just 23% are working full-time.
