Welcome to the Voice of Batesville E-Newspaper

Hi, thanks for stopping by. This is a brand new, interactive e-newspaper I launched on September 13, 2008 for Batesville, Independence County and N.E. Arkansas. It's here to help people have a way to express what they are thinking about various subjects that effect us in the Batesville area. Several authors and influencers have been invited to make contributions to our electronic newspaper. If you are interested in writing please e-mail me so I can dialog with you. My e-mail address is pastortony@jubilee-church.com I also encourage you to subscribe to the paper by adding your e-mail address in the upper right hand box. It's free!

  1. Out of sight out of mind.
With the economy changing we need to keep an eye on our future.
One of the things that we might not think about is our 401k.
It comes out of our pay checks automatically so we might not think about
checking on how much it is building each week or each month.
We may think that having a 401k is preparing us for our financial future.
However with the stock market as low as it is you may need to re work your 401k.
You do not want to lose money. Your 401k plan allows you to chose options that you
invest your contributions. Some of your options maybe stock, bonds, or money market investments.
Most company's help with your plan in choosing packages to keep you investment diversified among
    different investments.
If we do not check on our future once a month we can lose money. Making sure that your package
you have picked has more than one investment would be wise. We do not want to invest all in
one or we would have the chance to lose money through events that may affect the markets.

If you are not involved with your company's 401k please look into it. We all need to think about our future.
Typically, an employer will match a portion of your contributions, for example, 50% of your first 6%. If your company
offers the 6% match it is free money on top of your salary.

Also do not forget that if you change jobs you can rollover your 401k to your new job if they offer the program.
If they do not offer 401k you can move it to a bank and open an IRA and keep investing for your financial future.
Any of the Batesville Banks will sit down with you and help you reinvest your money and explain the IRA to you.

Batesville has seen the ups and downs of jobs in the last 2 years. With the change from Eastman to Future Fuel. To the lay off at
White Rogers, and the complete closing of GDX. We all need to think about the future now.

Great Comment! Can you share a little bit about the concept of re-balancing a portfolio?
